Recognizing your mic through Audacity

Recognizing your mic through Audacity

There are some steps you need to follow in order to get your mic recognized by Audacity.

In Windows
  1. In order to get Windows to recognize your mic. First of all, head over control panel and then access sound settings.

  2. You have to click on the “change system sounds or manage audio devices”.

  3. Audio input devices will be shown to you and select your mic from it.

  4. Check and adjust audio input properties to improve sound quality, by adjusting levels.

  5. Open Audacity.

  6. You have to make this sure that Audacity is set up to recognize your microphone.

  7. Navigate to the Edit menu.

  8. See you Preferences and Settings for Audio I/O.

  9. Make sure that the selected microphone is set for your microphone.

    It should be kept in mind that the Audacity shouldn’t be turned on before plugging in your microphone, in this way Audacity won’t be able to recognize it. Make sure to plug in your recording device first, and then turn on the program.

In Mac
  1. You have to head over to “System Preferences” from the little Apple logo found at the top left of your screen.

  2. Click on Sound.

  3. You have to then click on the Input tab, and choose the microphone you are using from all the options shown to you.

  4. Adjust the input volume levels as you need.

  5. Open Audacity on your Mac.

  6. You to make this sure that Audacity is set up to recognize your microphone.

  7. Click Audacity in the main menu then Preferences.

    8. You have to click on Devices and make sure that the selected microphone (Under Recording > Device) is set for your microphone.
